Hi Debbie,
My name is Diane. Kitten and I became friends in 1978 when we I moved into the apartment complex where she was living and had been friends ever since. I wish we had the resources to come up with more of her friends when she passed away.
Kitten had a bleeding ulcer that she did not know about. According to the autopsy, it had been bleeding and she became weak and passed out. She fell and hit her head, and bled to death while she was unconscious. It was a great loss to us all.
I was really glad to get your email. Her mom had passed away several years back, her brother had passed away in 2006 and her dad was in a nursing home. I only wished we had more information and had been able to get in touch with more of her friends from the earlier years of her life. We did have a small memorial service a few months later, once all the details were taken care of. She had requested to be cremated and have her ashes spread in Destin. Several of her friends and I from the late 70's and early 80's, and John, made the trek to Destin to take care of her final wishes.
I don't know it you would be interested, but one of her childhood friends made a DVD with pictures throughout her life that we were able to find in her house. I am a little computer challenged, but if you are interested, I will see if there is some way I can email it to you.
I also still have some memorabilia from her high school days with more boxes left to go through. Yearbooks, ring, etc....that I have no use for but just could not throw away. After Katrina, I just can't seem discard these kinds of things. Is there any one of her friends that you know of that maybe lost their high school memories with Katrina? I would love to pass these things on to one of her friends that would truly treasure them.
Thanks so much for contacting me.
Diane
